“There is a girl in New York City

Who calls herself the human trampoline

And sometimes when I’m falling, flying

Or tumbling in turmoil I say

Oh, so this is what she means…”

I feel like that most of the time…    😉

LYRICS

The Mississippi Delta was shining

Like a National guitar

I am following the river

Down the highway

Through the cradle of the civil war

I’m going to Graceland

Graceland

In Memphis Tennessee

I’m going to Graceland

Poor boys and pilgrims with families

And we are going to Graceland

My traveling companion is nine years old

He is the child of my first marriage

But I’ve reason to believe

We both will be received

In Graceland
She comes back to tell me she’s gone

As if I didn’t know that

As if I didn’t know my own bed

As if I’d never noticed

The way she brushed her hair from her forehead

And she said losing love

Is like a window in your heart

Everybody sees you’re blown apart

Everybody sees the wind blow
I’m going to Graceland

Memphis Tennessee

I’m going to Graceland

Poor boys and pilgrims with families

And we are going to Graceland
And my traveling companions

Are ghosts and empty sockets

I’m looking at ghosts and empties

But I’ve reason to believe

We all will be received

In Graceland
There is a girl in New York City

Who calls herself the human trampoline

And sometimes when I’m falling, flying

Or tumbling in turmoil I say

Oh, so this is what she means

She means we’re bouncing into Graceland

And I see losing love

Is like a window in your heart

Everybody sees you’re blown apart

Everybody sees the wind blow
In Graceland, in Graceland

I’m going to Graceland

For reasons I cannot explain

There’s some part of me wants to see

Graceland

And I may be obliged to defend

Every love, every ending

Or maybe there’s no obligations now

Maybe I’ve a reason to believe

We all will be received

In Graceland

“… gotta learn to give if you wanna live in a small world”

SMALL WORLD

All around the world

There are people like you and me

From the poorest beggar in the street

To the richest king and queen
Some people take

And then they never give

You gotta learn to give and take

If you wanna learn to live

In a small world

Small, small world
Now we can

Fight one another

Like they to on T.V.

Or we can

Help one another

The way it’s supposed to be
If we all give a little

It could really mean a lot

It’s a small world

But it’s the only one we’ve got

Small world

Small, small world

Oleta Adams

I heard Oleta Adams for the first time in the album Seeds of Love, the third and most succesful album from the british band Tears for Fears. Seed of Love was and album that caught my attention because great drummers played in it, like Manu Katché, Phil Collins and Simon Phillips, but it was Oleta who really got my attention. A few months later, I got the chance to see Tears for Fears and Oleta Adams in concert, in Houston Texas, and she was even more than I expected. Catapulted by the fame she got from playing in such succesful album, she released her third solo album, Circle of One, and it quickly became one of my favorites.

Today I present the second song of her third album, Get There.

If you like it, share it.

Happy Sunday!

GET THERE Lyrics

You can reach me by railway, you can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane, you can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don’t care how you get here, just get here if you can

You can reach me by sailboat, climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down the slope, into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt, cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don’t care how you get here, just get here if you can

There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, surely you would be closer
I need you closer

There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
If I had my way, surely you would be closer
I need you closer

You can windsurf into my life, take me up on a carpet ride
You can make it in a big balloon, but you better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan, cross the desert like an Arab man
I don’t care how you get here, just get here if you can

I don’t care, I don’t care
I need you right here right now
I need you right here right now right by my side yeah yeah
Get here

I don’t care how you get here, just get here if you can.

Harry Conick Jr A-352440-1297853500.jpeg

I first listened to Harry Conick Jr back at the beginning of the 90s, when he recorded the soundtrack of the movie When Harry Met Sally. Since then, I’ve become his fan, and play his music regularly.

A few years ago I presented you Love is Here to Stay, and today I leave you with another great song that is perfect for Valentine’s day. I hope you enjoy it.

I’VE GOT A GREAT IDEA – HARRY CONICK JR.

Here are the lyrics of I’ve got a Great Idea:

I’ve got a great idea
And wouldn’t you like to know
You probably can’t bear it
So I guess I’ll have to share it
I thought of it a moment ago

It starts with your hand in mine
And next comes a little stroll
You probably won’t buy it
But I’m trying to keep it quiet
So please don’t tell a soul

’cause if you do
The world and you
Will think I’m crazy and give me medicine
They’ll drag me away
And as I go you’ll hear me say
I could have been a decent match for edison

Ideas are few and far between
And good ideas are rarer still
So listen and be wise
Just forget the other guys
’cause my idea’s no good for three
My idea is you and me

Today, I present to you one of my favorite Mumford songs, Lover of the Light. I hope you enjoy it.

Happy Sunday!!

Here are the lyrics of Lover of the Light

And in the middle of the night
I may watch you go
There’ll be no value in the strength
Of walls that I have grown
There’ll be no comfort in the shade
Of the shadows thrown
But I’d be yours if you’d be mine

Stretch out my life
And pick the seams out
Take what you like
But close my ears and eyes
Watch me stumble over and over

I had done wrong
You build your tower
But call me home
And I will build a throne
And wash my eyes out never again

But love the one you hold
And I’ll be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the lights

With skin too tight
And eyes like marbles
You spin me high
So watch me as I glide
Before I tumble homeward, homeward

I know I tried
I was not stable
And flawed by pride
I miss my sanguine eyes
So hold my hands up – breathe in and breathe out

So love the one you hold
And I’ll be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the lights

And in the middle of the night
I may watch you go
There’ll be no value in the strength
Of walls that I have grown
There’ll be no comfort in the shade
Of the shadows thrown
You may not trust the promises
Of the change I’ll show
But I’d be yours if you’d be mine

So love the one you hold
And I’ll be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the lights

So love the one you hold
And I will be your goal
To have and to hold
A lover of the lights

No Fear of Heights is the theme song in the movie The Tourist, starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, and it is one of my favorite songs of all time.It talks about how we all need someone to give us courage.

For you, who is that special person that makes you have no fear?

I hope you enjoy it. Happy Sunday!!

NO FEAR OF HEIGHTS

I never walked near the edge
Used to fear falling
I never swam far from shore
Never tried the secret door

But when you give me love
When you give me love

I have no fear of heights,
No fear of the deep blue sea,
Although it could drown me,
I know it could drown me

I didn’t wander in the woods
Used to fear the darkness
I didn’t like getting deep
I was scared of what I couldn’t keep

But when you give me love
When you give me love

I have no fear of heights,
No fear of the deep blue sea,
Although it could drown me,
I know it could drown me

No fear of the fall
No fear if it’s with you that I fall
‘cause nothing could break us,
No, nothing could break us, now

Have a Happy Sunday!!

YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND

When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand
and nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I’ll be there, yeah, yeah,
you’ve got a friend.

If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow,
keep your head together and call my name out loud.
Soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I’ll be there.

Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend? People can be so cold.
They’ll hurt you and desert you. Well, they’ll take your soul if you let them,
oh yeah, but don’t you let them.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call, Lord, I’ll be there, yeah, yeah,
you’ve got a friend. You’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend. Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
Oh, yeah, yeah, you’ve got a friend.
